He became involved in his profession because after college, he traveled to Africa with Youth for Christ. While being there, he worked with paramedics and was inspired to become a doctor because of the work he did there.
Extended Bio Profile:
Dr. Thorpe served four years of active duty in the U.S. Navy and is currently serving in the Naval Reserve. He volunteers at his children's school; they belong to the youth division of the Kiwanis Club, so he gives his time there as well.

In five years, Dr. Thorpe intends to continue his studies with an advanced residency and a fellowship, in a specialty he has yet to choose.
