Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because she always wanted to work in developing countries. In the Dominican Republic, everything fell into place as she was able to rely on her experience and those who guided her.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. DeCandio teaches the art of Taino ceramics with the objective of facilitating household welfare and the well-being of children. The Amuca Art Center provides assistance to women in rural areas in order to create Dominican role models out of mothers, sisters, aunts and grandmothers. These women have the greatest influence on young girls growing up in communities with limited resources and extreme cultural pressures. Ms. DeCandio also teaches Spanish and Latin at a private school, and has been teaching ESL for eight years. She has been at the private school for one year. Ms. DeCandio is proud of her perseverance and dedication.

Where Will You Be In 5 Years:
In five years, Ms. DeCandio hopes to develop the nonprofit into a fully functioning fundraising organization. She hopes to further brand it and bring it exposure.
