She attributes her success to her values, work ethic, dedication and the inspiration she received from her parents, who are survivors of the depression era.

She became involved in her profession because of the educational opportunities it offered.

Ms. Ballinger is a pioneer of women in the U.S. Air Force and wants other women to know that they, too, can carve a path for themselves. She has previously worked for the U.S. Air Force chief of staff as a superintendent in the U.S. Air Force quadrennial review and resource management. She has also worked for the Secretary of Defense as the chief of administration personnel and security. She worked at the Pentagon for nine years. She authored the first BDT letter and tracking system and an unclassified report on the Manhattan Project, and was hand selected as the directorate security expert to be the liaison with the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Security.
