The highlights of her career include earning the distinction of Professional in Human Resources from SHRM, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the title of human capital management principal at her current employer. In addition, she is proud to have been promoted four times in the course of four years. In addition, as part of her job as a principal generalist, Ms. Serhani-Eltobgi was the only female from the U.S. to attend a forum in war-torn Iraq, where she spoke about her function and department during a company event aimed at increasing collaboration between its U.S. headquarters and international locations.

Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because her father was a director of training and performance improvement; while she was in college, she had an opportunity to attend a few of his workshops and meet some of his colleagues in the human resources field, and she knew right away that that her future would be in HR as well.

Ms. Serhani-Eltobgi is a highly motivated, focused, proactive human resource practitioner with a solid and progressive history of driving organizational performance to new heights in the global marketplace. Throughout her career, she has championed professional development and excelled at motivating others. She has also demonstrated tremendous motivation in her own life, overcoming many obstacles to achieve her dreams and become an accomplished professional. Ms. Serhani-Eltobgi managed to overcome difficult times as a newcomer to the United States. The day she arrived in 2000, she had $400.00. The next day, she was left with $100.00 and a brand new life to build with no family or friends around to help. She had to take on jobs that nobody would in order to pay for her school and sustain herself, but she never lost the end goal, which was and will always be to become a human resources executive in a Fortune 500 Best Company. She believes that there is no tragedy greater than losing yourself and losing faith in yourself. She says, "The human mind is the greatest and most powerful element created, and no matter how difficult a situation is and how unbearable it is, our mind will adjust to it and will help us overcome. Having faith in yourself is the best gift and most everlasting one you can give yourself."
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Overseeing human resources operations in Iraq and Kuwait; Handling and supervising investigations involving U.S.-based and internationally located employees; Working with the litigation team in various matters and contributing to its successful track record in winning cases brought against the company; Handling hearings, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission-related matters, and various discrimination claims successfully and legally; Managing the employment process for international staff; Training recruiters and department managers in such legal topics as the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, E-Verify, EEOC requirements, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and diversity recruiting; Overseeing the efficient application of internal policies and ensuring that the company has the right policies and procedures in place and that they are well documented to ensure continuity; Creating the department’s first metrics series to track and present to the executive team how the department is progressing throughout the year; Handling foreign contracts and ensuring compliance with local employment laws and immigration legislation; Acting as the point of contact for the human resources department in any international human resources operations for the company; Acting as subject matter expert in compensation and performance management; Working on various proposals and providing the human resources department's data and input; Ensuring the integrity of the data on the human resources information system (HRIS) by working directly with line managers and the HRIS team; Sourcing, recruiting, training and supervising human resources staff
