The most gratifying aspect of her career has been the opportunity to serve her country and make a difference. Ms. Bianco feels lucky to have had a wonderful career, starting in the military and then moving into a federal government position in which she has been able to continue to help others. She has also enjoyed traveling.

Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession after serving in the military and gaining experience working on a contracting logistics project.
Extended Bio Profile:
Throughout her military and civil service careers, Ms. Bianco has been recognized for her professional expertise and community spirit. She is not only a "go-to" person for answers, but an always-willing volunteer to coordinate, set up, decorate, and clean up at parties and special events. While she was in the federal civil service overseas, she always pitched in make the annual Soldiers Appreciation Dinner, which honors U.S. and German military personnel, a memorable affair. Ms. Bianco enjoyed a 10-year term of service in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of captain. She was initially among one of the first groups of females to attend Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia, and to integrate into the 82nd Airborne Division. In 1980, she was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea, where she was the first female company commander in the infantry division. Her subsequent posts included the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where she was battalion logistics officer from 1981 to 1984. An expert in handling logistics and contracts, Ms. Bianco spent several years working in Germany and the Netherlands. She joined the U.S. Agency for International Development in 2001. As a USAID employee, Ms. Bianco has been deployed to Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq, developing governmental contracts in the areas of economic growth, health and education. Currently, she is working on recruitment efforts to stabilize reconstruction teams on the Afghanistan and Pakistan borders. She has received three awards for her work in a critical post and having it pass inspection, one in Pakistan and two in Afghanistan. She is proud of her twin sister, who has also served the United States.

Working with programs overseas and assisting in education, health and other services abroad; Assessing and signing off on contracts for use by U.S. foreign service officers serving in Third World countries to provide humanitarian relief, government building support, food for peace, emergency reaction relief, and health, education, economic development and construction support

In five years, Ms. Bianco plans to retire and live in Las Vegas, Nev. She also plans to stay involved in some form of contract work with casinos.
