Mr. Aerts served as a first sergeant in the 144th Evacuation Hospital and 625th First Military Police Company. He retired from the army in 1999. He had been stationed in Saudi Arabia, Panama, and the US Virgin Islands after Hurricane Hugo. He has received various awards and commendations while serving the army. He has worked in the mental health field for 43 years.
