Throughout the duration of your career, what was the one highlight that stood out the most?:
The highlight of her career was during her employment with the Prudential Insurance Company. Early in her career, with only a few months of being employed, she received a call from an existing customer wanting to change his beneficiary. She thought the call was normal. Clients call frequently with the same request. So she set up an appointment and went to see the client.

The client said that the change was to take his brother off the policy, because he had died and he wanted to put his niece on the policy as the beneficiary. Then she started to explain that since the niece was only a baby, she was too young to be put on the policy. She gave him some advice on how beneficiaries work.

Then he started to talk to her about how he was having some issues himself, and no one would listen to him. His parents were too wrapped up with their issues over his brother’s death, that they had no time for him. He said that after she left, he was going to go for a walk in the woods.

She stayed and listened to him for as long as she could. As she walked toward her car, she had a gut feeling that something more needed to be done to help the client, so she immediately made a few calls on her cellphone. Her client was found in the woods. The authorities called her and thanked her and told her that her client was planning on taking his own life that day.

She had never heard anything more until a year later. The telephone rang, and the call was from the client, and he was calling her to thank her for giving him a second chance at life. Most of all, he thanked her for listening to him, and said that he was able to get professional counseling and that he is very happy with his life now.

It is a most rewarding highlight that she will always treasure.
