Collaboration with Russians that led to the deployment of a Russian pump technology in one of Oak Ridge's underground storage tanks for waste remediation.

Expanded Biography:
Jacquie Noble-Dial received her B. S. degree from Tuskegee Institute in Animal Science and a M. S. from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville (UTK) in Education – Cultural Studies. Ms. Noble-Dial is presently pursuing a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from UTK; in addition, she holds certifications as a Registered Environmental Manager and a Certified Environmental Systems Manager. Ms. Noble-Dial accepted a position with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) as a contractor after nearly twenty-eight years of federal service with twenty of those years working in various capacities for the Department of Energy (DOE). Serves as Decommissioning Project Leader for Off-Sites Decommissioning Facilities for AECL. Her federal career includes eight years working as a Radiological Chemist at Sequoia and Watts Bar Nuclear Plants (PWR) for the Tennessee Valley Authority. After TVA, she was employed as Radiological Chemist at Perry Nuclear Power Plant (BWR) in Perry, OH.
Ms. Noble-Dial began her career with DOE as a Program Manager responsible for the sampling and analysis program for Richland’s Underground Storage Tanks in the Tank Remediation System’s Branch. She then transferred to Oak Ridge Operations as an Environmental Technology Program Manager responsible for a multi-million dollar technology development/deployment program for Underground Storage Tanks. Also, served as Oak Ridge Operations’ Site Representative for the Tank Focus Area, ensuring planned and ongoing technology development activities supported user needs effectively and efficiently at all DOE Sites. Ms. Noble-Dial was the Project Manager for Melton Valley Closure Projects managing technical management and coordination of Small Facilities Decontamination and Decommissioning Projects. As a Project Manager, she was a member on the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Projects Team in Environmental Management. Responsibilities included managing the Surveillance and Maintenance (S&M Project) of surplus sites and facilities, Molten Salt Reactor Experiment (MSRE), ORNL Water Quality Program, and maintenance and upgrades to White Oak Dam. Ms. Noble-Dial completed the DOE’s Technical Qualification Programs in Environmental Compliance and Waste Management.
Ms. Noble-Dial aspires to remain current in her career field and regularly participates in professional training courses and within the last year completed the Argonne Decommissioning Training, Project Planning and Control using Primavera-P6 and Human Performance classes. She is a member of the American Anthropological Association and participates as a referee for Special Olympic field events and as a participant in the yearly Alzheimer’s Association walk. Outside of professional and educational interests, she travels, spends time with her family, two dogs, four fish, and a turtle. Ms. Noble-Dial is also hoping to adapt to the wintery weather in Canada.
Throughout the duration of your career, what was the one highlight that stood out the most?:
How ruthless some people in the field can be, however, when you approach any situation with kindness and integrity you are able to accomplish project goals. Overall, people in the industry are very reliable, helpful, and accomodating, therefore, I the main highlight is not to let a few destroy my confidence.

What Does He/She Attribute Success To:
I attribute my success to loving and nuturing parents that instilled a love for learning, moral values and integrity and a tenacious work ethic. Also, my success is grounded in hard work, knowledge and training.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
My oldest brother was working as a Radiological Chemist and suggested that I apply for a trainee position after not being able to find a job in an Anmal Science related field.
