Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Houston has performed extensively in regional and off-Broadway productions. She wrote the play, "Mama Drama," which was published by Samuel French. She has written for the Teaching Theater Journal in the spring of 1977 and fall of 2001. Throughout her career, she has always found time to work with children – running after-school workshops, coaching young acting students, directing productions at the high school level, and leading intensive summer theatre training sessions. An avid hiker, she has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
1) Helping educators connect with students' natural enthusiasm for drama and performance; Running comprehensive outreach programs that serve over 6,000 high school students in New York City 2) Overseeing all aspects of the organization; Staffing; Creating educational performances; Using theater to develop new ways of teaching and learning for children; Placing teachers from the United States in developing countries to conduct playwrite workshops
