Mr. Eans is a veteran of two wars. He performed 20 years of service at Rikers Island and retired from the New York City Department of Corrections in 2002. In April, 2010, Mr. Ernest was promoted to Sergeant First Class. His father served in World War II and his brother in the Vietnam War.
