Throughout the duration of your career, what was the one highlight that stood out the most?:
The main highlight was becoming an Adjunct Professor.
There were many more highlights and it was on all levels actually seeing the excitement of learning. To see her students realize they did learn. To see a second grader or middle school student, realize for the first time, that they "can" read and understand. To see a college student get commendations because of the lessons she has taught. For the thank you's received and the friendships made a the field that she loves.

What Does He/She Attribute Success To:
She attributes her success to hard work in school, and having great mentors and principals. She recalls Dr. Marcia Knoll, who was her first principal she taught her to look at each child individually. She also enrolled her into Teacher's College Writing and Reading Workshops, to work along side Dr L. Calkins. Dr. Marsha Menahem, the next Principal who introduced her to Cooperative Learning. Lastly,Mrs. Athena Galitsis. She assisted her in putting everything together and insisted that she go and Teach others. Mrs. Galitsis taught he about rubrics and got her to go back to school for Administration and Supervision because she worked so well in training teachers to perfect their craft.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession after working in retail merchandising. She had never intended to go into education because there were many teachers in her family, but after becoming a buyer, she realized she hated the work. She made the decision to go into education instead and has never regretted it. She initially worked as a kindergarten teacher in Forest Hills, Queens, and has since taught at every level, with the exception of high school.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Davis has taught language and literacy, beginning special education, ESL education, and introductory reading for a fellows program in the summer. She worked out of three different departments, taught all reading courses in early childhood and secondary education, as well as interdisciplinary reading. She developed a two-semester course, now referred to as SEYS 551 and 550 at Queens College. She also taught the language and literacy course in the education and community department, and has participated in writing and readers’ workshops. In the future, Ms. Davis intends to get involved with sickle cell disease efforts.
