He became involved in his profession because satellite communications was very new when he graduated from school, and he was assigned to a new project due to his experience and lack of trained professionals in the field at the time.

Mr. Hershberg has been granted U.S. patents, some for detail equipment design and for Internet system design. He has been in the satellite business since 1959.
