She became involved in her profession through her aunts who were nurses; she always heard them talking about their work, and was fascinated by it.

She is involved with the clinical decision-making in the management of patients with diabetes and other endocrine disorders. She also precepts nursing practitioner students at the University of Rochester. She previously taught nursing at Monroe Community College.
