She attributes her success to her hard work, dedication, perseverance, ability to maintain a sense of humor and to see the bigger picture, and always remembering that children come first.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because of her third grade teacher, who inspired her to be a better student. She wanted to emulate her and thought teaching would be a wonderful career.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Peters has served as an assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, elementary school principal, and high school assistant principal. She has also taught at all levels. In her last role as principal, the school received numerous awards. It was named a high achieving blue ribbon school, a national blue star school for three consecutive years, and a high achieving and gap-closing school for four consecutive years. Ms. Peters has been a guest speaker and panelist at many conferences and workshops. She loves the islands of Venezuela and enjoyed traveling to all of the countries in Europe. She is planning another cross-country trip in the U.S.

In five years, Ms. Peters hopes to develop a strategic plan in the district to do more with less and address issues of declining performance. She hopes to improve the results of all students, while embracing the concept that enrichment is a key focus to increased rigor in all classrooms.
