She attributes her success to her hard work as well as the support of her mentors and co-workers.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in his profession through her work with the city government and the Ford Foundation. The Ford Foundation paid for her to attend law school; after attaining a JD, she returned to work for the city government as a law clerk and then an associate attorney.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Berrill worked for the New York City government under Mayor Koch’s administration. She then became a speechwriter and special assistant for the president of the Ford Foundation. After completing legal studies at the Fordham University School of Law night school program, she worked at the law firm Cahill, Gordon and Reindel. She has published two law review articles as well.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Vetting newspaper articles; Advising journalists and editors on legal matters related to defamation, privacy, intellectual property, and other areas of media litigation; Litigating on behalf of the company

In five years, Ms. Berrill hopes to retire and begin teaching courses on media and the first amendment law at the collegiate level. She also plans to do more scholarly writing.
