Career Achievements:
Obtaining my original Nursing Diploma, set the stage for my 30 yrs in Nursing.
Recently, becoming a Certified Professional Coach, obtaining my honorary doctorates in Divinity & Metaphysics and being ordained as a Minister/Reverend, have been a big personal achievement.
Currently studying Hypnotherapy and Legal Nurse Consulting-will be certified in both by end 2012
What do you feel separates you from the rest of the professionals in your industry?:
My willingness to stretch and grow both professionally & personally. I have an uncanny ability to "rebound" from adversity & failure, when it occurs.
I may go down on my knees, but I always get up, move forward and never give up.
What has been the most outstanding thing you have done thus far in your career?:
Learning Patience and Perseverance. To have a career that I've been in for >30 yrs, is a major achievement in today's world. Keeping your eye on your goals, and not giving up till you achieve them.
How would you like to be remembered by your peers?:
As someone who treated everyone with dignity and respect, no matter who they were. That I was kind, caring, loving, tolerant and fair.
If you could solve one problem in the world today, what would it be?:
To stop all the fighting that people get involved with. If we could all be respectful and loving of one another, the world would be a better place. Everyone is my brother and sister, I may not agree with them always, but there is no reason to be nasty and unpleasant about things. Life is too short to hold grudges.
If you could have lunch with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?:
The Dalai Lama. He reminds me of my father. Everytime I see him I smile, he has a "presence" about him that I seem to connect with.
He strikes me as being very grounded in the real world, and has great tolerance for the foibles of mankind.
Expanded Biography:
Over the course of my career and life, I have developed a deep spiritual awareness. That has in part lead to my forming the non-profit 501 (c)(3) with my business partner. It has also lead me to Professional Coaching & my recent ordaination as a minister. This aspect of my life is very important now, and I have found an abiding passion that equals my passion for nursing. I am continuing to grow & expand & change, I truely love my life.
Throughout the duration of your career, what was the one highlight that stood out the most?:
The highlight of her career was when she discovered that caring for people who were dying had a name: Hospice.

What Does He/She Attribute Success To:
She attributes her success to her ability to communicate with everybody across all spectrums.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in the health care profession through her friend, who was a nurse. She got interested in the field, and found it to be a natural fit. In the nonprofit foundation, another friend asked if she knew how to write grants; she did, and Silver Lining Foundation, Inc., was born. Also, her grandmother and her best friend were nurses, and played a major role influencing her in her nursing career.

Ms. Cretney-Tsosie has been in the health care field for more than 30 years. She has worked in all areas of nursing, and traveled all over the world. The most fulfilling aspect of her career was the last 10 years she has worked in hospice, where she could help people during this difficult stage of their lives.

Handling all aspects in setting up a first residential group home; Networking; Marketing; Pulling grants together; Working with a grant-writing company; Doing face-to-face work with people; Counseling patients and their families, administrating hospice satillite office.

In five years, Ms. Cretney-Tsosie hopes to develop and grow her nonprofit organization to nearly eight to 10 group homes and two transitional housing centers. She also intends to assist people in how to make things better in their lives, to expand her speaking forum and encourage people throughout the United States and the world.
