She attributes her success to establishing her career after raising her children.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession after becoming the director of the Food and Nutrition Department at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in New Jersey for seven years, following work in several local hospitals and nursing homes. In her spare time, she was building her own private counseling practice.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Sakowitz developed a hands-on nutrition program for her clients called "Weigh To Better Health" during her private counseling business. She used test tubes filled with sugar for her clients to show them just how much sugar they were eating visually. The results of the nutrition intervention, originally sponsored by Eli Lilly and Company, were later published; she was then hired to be a co-author for a new teaching manual called "Solutions for Wellness."
