The most gratifying aspect of her career is being actively employed for 32 years in finance. Although this is an accomplishment, overcoming a personal health crisis and living to tell of it was her most significant life-changing event.

She attributes her success to her life experiences, which have given her the insight needed to help others successfully make their way through life, despite overwhelming obstacles.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because of her compassion for others and desire to make a difference in the economy. She also enjoys being in a position where she can make an impact on families and individuals who face overwhelming situations.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Haire was born and raised in a small rural area in Calhoun County, Miss., where she played for her high school basketball team and went on to attend college. She got married at the age of 19 and gave birth to three sons: John; Zackery; and Cody, who lived only 45 minutes. When John was a teenager, he accidentally shot himself in the knee with a pistol used to hunt wild hogs. A few months later, gangrene set in and his leg had to be amputated. Ms. Haire arranged for John to earn a degree in physical therapy at the University Medical Center in Jackson, Miss. Upon graduation, he worked as a physical therapist in Tupelo, Miss., for eight years before attending prosthetic school in Chicago, Ill. He is currently the director of prosthetics in Chattanooga, Tenn. Her son, Zack, is self-employed and lives in Bruce, Miss. In 1970, Ms. Haire began her career with the Federal Land Bank where she worked for 11 years, culminating in the position of assistant vice president. She next worked with the USDA, and later, after her divorce, transferred to Vickburg, Miss., where she worked for USDA Rural Development for 22 years, culminating in the position of loan officer in Chickasaw County for the Farm Service Agency. Along the way, she received a number of awards for her work. In 1994, Ms. Haire married her current husband, Gordie, who has one son, Jeffery. They have five grandchildren. One Sunday morning in May of 2003, Ms. Haire fell ill and passed out on the way to the hospital. She would remain in a coma on life support until mid-November with only a 50 percent chance of survival. She was eventually diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis at UAB, in Birmingham, Ala., and had most of her pancreas removed. Upon waking from her coma, she could not move or speak. It would take two years of physical therapy for her to learn to walk again.
