She attributes her success to her perseverance, God given talents, and being humble, as well as being invited to participate in many different music opportunities. She also credits her grandmother, a classical artist, her mother, and her instructors and ministers at her church, the Rev. Bryant Clancy of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MO, and longtime friend and pastor for 40 years, Rev. Dr. John S. Damm of St. Peters Lutheran Church in New York City.

She became involved in her profession since she began singing as a child.
Extended Bio Profile:
Dr. Murrell sings opera with the New York State Opera Company and has performed in more than 15 Broadway shows as well as performed in summer stock theater. She also performs her poetry and has served as a U.S. ambassador worldwide.
In November, 2011, Dr. Murrell held an international recognition concert in honor of her lifetime membership with Cambridge Who's Who. It was held at Powell Hall with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and featured David Robertson as the conductor and Juan Carmona on guitar.
