The highlights of his career were providing mental health specialist for the Red Cross Disaster Mental Health during September 11, 2001, USN Hospital Ship Comfort in the New York City harbor, and at Fresh Kills Landfill.

Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
He became involved in his profession through his academic background in social work and sociology. The direction of involvement was highly influenced by his volunteer work with the various fire departments.
Extended Bio Profile:
Mr. Burdick was born in Meadville, PA to Donald and Elaine Burdick. He graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville in 1966. After graduation, he worked for Crawford County, PA Board of Assistance. Then went on to graduate school and back to the county to work as a Housing Development Specialist. He left there to go to to the University of Nebraska to start his teaching career, and then on to Madison Wisconsin. After completing three years at the University of Madison's Ph.D. program, he went on to teach at Whitewater University in Wisconsin, Elizabeth College in PA, and Winona State University. The primary courses he taught were Human Behavior and Social Environment.
