She became involved in her profession through her interest in helping people and in 1977 emergency services was a new field for civilians. She was getting an associate of arts in criminal justice and sergeant asked her to enter into this emergency services field.

Ms. Munroe has been involved in emergency communications. She began her career as a dispatcher and prior to Alexandria Department of Emergency Communications she was a deputy commissioner of Onondaga County Department of Emergency Communications in Syracuse, NY for 18 years.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Overseeing 55 radio staff for the radio system and 911 centers in Alexandria, VA; Managing dispatch staff for fire, emergency medical and law enforcement; Training; Firing; Developing the budget; Teaching online courses for managers of communication and for accreditation; Evaluating communication centers all over the country; Meeting 218 communication standards
Where Will You Be In 5 Years:
In five years, Ms. Munroe hopes to continue to do what she is doing, retire, and do consulting to become more active in her association.
