She attributes her success to her parents, mentors, peers, teachers and others she admired who have set examples. She had exposure and experience in other cultures.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Allen is an innovative and divergent thinker. She was a professor at Rutgers University for 19 years and she was an art teacher in public schools in Pennsylvania for 35 years and then earned master of arts in Art education and moved to Europe. In Europe she taught middle school and high school students photography, painting and ceramics during this time she was teaching in Norway for two years and three years in Holland in private American schools. She was a chairwomen in the art education department and wrote goals and mission statements. In 1980 to 1982, as an educator, director, master printer and lithographer, she trained eight students and also initiated an internship program with MTV and Martha Stewart TV, etc.
Ms. Allen built the graphic design department and hired six new faculty to move to the next level. She teaches artists books for fall, spring and summer because she wants to be in touch with students. Artin the Printmaking Community around the world reknowned her as a master printer and lithographer and has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally which is included in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, Museum of Modern Art Library, The New York Public Library, New York; Corcoran Gallery of Art, Library of Congress, Washington, D.C., Springfield Museum of Art, Missouri, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Vesteros Kunst Museum, Sweden and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, as well as numerous corporate collections. She had two solo shows since Boston University and one in Australia.
