He became involved in his profession because he had an interest in astronomy from an early age; he chose the field of education because it gave him the ability to teach and conduct research in his field.
Extended Bio Profile:
Dr. Mumford is retired, but spent more than 38 years at Tufts University, teaching astronomy and astrophysics on the elementary and intermediate levels. He was also the dean of both the liberal arts and graduate programs for some time.
Where Will You Be In 5 Years:
In five years, Dr. Mumford will publish a book on 100 years of salmon fishing on the Miramichi River in New Brunswick, Canada.
