What Does He/She Attribute Success To:
She attributes her success to thinking strategically, being able to look at the larger picture, and to effectively communicate her vision and galvanize people's wider support for it. She has always aimed to work productively across disciplines, institutions, hierarchies, cultures and geographies. She respects other people's values and perspectives and seeks dialogue. She is a highly motivated, organized, hard-working, reliable and responsible person.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because she had been passionate about the arts, especially the visual arts. She regards it as a civil responsibility to educate the next generation of creative practitioners and educationalists and work across disciplinary, institutional, sectoral and cultural and geographic boundaries.
Extended Bio Profile:
Professor Mey’s own research is concerned with the situation and models of contemporary cultural practices, public pedagogies, the documentation and archiving of art, and knowledge production at the interface between the arts and sciences.
Publications include "Art and Obscenity" (2007). Edited volumes include "Smite and Smits, Artistic Research" (2011); with Kroenke and Spielmann, "Kulturelle Umbrüche: Identitäten, Räume, Repräsentationen" (2007); On-Site/In-Sight, special issue "Journal of Visual Art Practice, Vols. 4.1/2" (2005); "Art in the Making: Aesthetics Historicity and Practice" (2004); with Simon Yuill, "Cross-wired: Communication, Interface, Locality" (2004); and "Sculpsit: Contemporary Artists on Sculpture and Beyond" (2001).
She initiated and headed, as a director, the ISEA 2009 15th International Symposium on Electronic Art. This prestigious interdisciplinary event was held on the island of Ireland under the umbrella theme: "Engaged Creativity in Mobile Environments."
She is a peer reviewer for UK Research Councils, including the AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council, UK), international funding bodies and global publishing houses.

In five years, she intends to have successfully promoted the university in becoming more internationally recognized, and enhanced the institution's research profile and leadership in the creative economy. In addition, she seeks to mature her own research in models of contemporary art practice and their underlying hierarchies of value, and play an influential role in advocating for the arts in a wider society.
