Previous: Substitute Sign Language Interpreter: Employed by Special Education Department of McHenry County (SEDOM) as an Interpreter/Assistant Teacher/Aide for children K-8. The balance of my experience (2-yr) in this job was working with preschool/1st grade deaf kids who also may have other challenges.
Previous: I enjoyed 21.5 years at NAII/PCIAA in IT on the Mainframe Team in Application Programmming working with Application running under IBM Operating systems; ESP, MVS OS390 using Cobol, CICS, Vsam, Oracle, DB2, SQL, SPUFI, FTP and debugging tools such as Expediter. I designed, coded, tested and implemented interactive applications as well as maintained batch systems for insurance editing and statistical applications such as the Automobile Edit Package, Personal Lines and the Financial Operating Results System (FORS). In addition, we used Lotus Notes and Xcel for communicatons and documentation as well as Visio Flow as design tool.
Previous: to NAII, I worked for Computer Concepts in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, for 2 years as a Computer Programmer on PC DOS based applications. I designed, coded, tested, and implemented a stand alone Vehicle Tracking system for Auto Drive Away Company. This system was distributed on disk to each franchise. This system was coded before Windows, using DOS, RM Cobol, MBP Cobol and a very early version of MS Word.

Throughout the duration of your career, what was the one highlight that stood out the most?:
Overshadowing everything, was my experience as a Substute Sign Language Interpreter and IL Edsucator through the No Child Left Behind act at SEDOM. I taught a 4 yr old deaf autistic child how to communicate for 2 .5years. The most rewarding thing I ever did in my life.
The highlights of my IT (Legacy now) career were converting a batch COBOL system into an interactive CICS system and implementing programs as a project supervisor and developer. Also being an Assistant DBA was fun too. Coding, testing, designing, maintaining Application Systems were a joy and I'll always think in boolean set theory.
Lastly: Y2K!!! I am excited to be going to the WEB now.

I became involved in Computers for the money then found out I was also a geek.
I became involved in Sign Language as a response to my faith in God as a way to serve the Deaf in my Church

I have written technical manuals for CICS systems. On another note: I have also designed a backdrop for popular Country Western Music singer who Headlined at the one time Frontier Hotel in Las Vegas. I also ran the dressing room for one month with Stagepass Productions during our tour.
