The highlight of his career was having the opportunity to share his experiences and knowledge gained through his involvement with the The United States Junior Council and PTA in terms of leadership and community involvement. The knowledge imparted to police officers under his supervision provided them with an insight on how to deal with community issues and improve their relationships with members of the community.

Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
He became involved in his profession after he returned from Vietnam, when, on a dare, he took the exam, passed and began his career in law enforcement.
Extended Bio Profile:
Mr. Sanborn is in his 38th year with the Hawaii Police Department and has been captain for the last four years. He joined law enforcement after six years with the U.S. Navy Reserve and a tour in Vietnam. His department's jurisdiction covers one of eight districts on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Enforcing policies for a large demographically diverse region; Managing the district and its resources to ensure the safety of the local and transient populations; Bringing community groups and various agencies together to work in unison
