Extended Bio Profile:
After a successful career as a Wall Street medical device analyst, Mary Yost decided to focus exclusively on research. In 2002 she co-founded THE SAGE GROUP, LLC Atlanta to specialize in what was at the time a little known, but widely prevalent cardiovascular problem, atherosclerotic peripheral artery disease (PAD). Ms. Yost developed a unique disease-based approach to consulting and research. By specializing in PAD, THE SAGE GROUP has become the complete resource for data on the entire spectrum of atherosclerotic lower limb disease severities (asymptomatic disease, intermittent claudication, acute limb ischemia and critical limb ischemia). Data includes prevalence statistics, underlying causes, comorbidities and consequences as well as the entire range of therapeutic solutions including pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology and stem cell therapy. She developed the Diabetes Method, a population-based projection model to estimate of the number of people with PAD and critical limb ischemia (CLI). Ms. Yost’s original training as an economist at UC Berkeley guides her method for calculating the economic and societal costs of disease and cost-effectiveness comparisons of therapeutic approaches. Her commitment to peripheral arterial disease and critical limb ischemia extends beyond business. She has become passionate about the prevention of CLI-related amputations supporting the public education and awareness programs sponsored by the nonprofit Vascular Disease Foundation, as well as by assisting innovative start up companies with research and consulting services. She currently serves on the Vascular Disease Foundation’s Board of Directors as Treasurer.
