She attributes her success to her parents.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because she was always fascinated with science, especially spending times in laboratories. She always thrived when she took science classes. In her last year as an undergraduate, she talked to her counselor about how she can get a job in this field, and her counselor recommended the U.S. Army.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Cochran is the only employee in the entire pathology department who is cross trained in all areas of the pathology out of 140 employees. Bio safety laboratory three is where they conduct any testing for bio terrorism type agents. She is currently studying to sit for her SM through American Society for Clinical Pathology. In her free time, she volunteers to read to children at the children's shelter. She was part of the Lieutenant of Explorer program in high school.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Working in the virology laboratory on respiratory viruses, sexual transmittable diseases, infectious disease serology, bacteriology and bio safety; Running instruments; Conducting manual testing to identify viruses in patient samples

In five years, Ms. Cochran hopes to be in a supervisor position in microbiology.
