She became involved in her profession because her family has been in the funerary business for four generations, which includes having 13 licensed funeral directors.

As the owner and directress of the Hortense and Mills Memorial Funeral Home, Ms. Spivey has been in the funerary business in total for more than 40 years. She recently retired from the Indian River County Jail where she was working as a Mental Health Forensics Specialist.
Ms. Spivey has organized and directed for a mentoring program for four summers.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Conducting all aspects of funeral business; Overseeing management of 10 employees
Where Will You Be In 5 Years:
In five years, Ms. Spivey plans to continue in funerary services. She looks to expand in educating her community on having funeral services in more economical ways.
