Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Danielson is the co-founder of the Suzuki Piano Program in the Community School of Performing Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University. From the late 1990s until 2005, Ms. Danielson directed choirs at the Southside Virginia Community School of Performing Arts, which was the precursor to the St. Augustine Community School of Performing Arts. In December 1998, Ms. Danielson suffered a traumatic accident, in which she sustained major brain injury. All four lobes of her brain were bleeding, she was paralyzed and in a coma. Upon her therapeutic dismissal in 2000, Ms. Danielson was unable to cross the street, match a pair of socks, and she was told she would never fully recover. With the support of her six children, Ms. Danielson slowly, yet miraculously, regained cognitive functions and motor skills. She taught herself how to play the piano again and began her feat to bring music instruction to underprivileged children in the area through the St. Augustine Community School of Performing Arts. Ms. Danielson has performed the Gershwin piano concerto as well as many private and public events. Lastly, Ms. Danielson has been recognized for her valuable contributions to health and human resources from St. John's county.
