He became involved in his profession because his uncle had a steel trading company in Germany and he was groomed to become the successor. Never returned home after his training, in N.Y. having been offered lucrative positions in Canada and later on in the USA.

Mr. Schlate has participated in the marathon race. He finished 65 full marathons, approximately 30 1/2 marathons and also participated in numerous triathlons including three iron man triathlons.
