He attributes his success to simplifying bookbinding so that a child can do it, while at the same time preserving the high quality of work, original image and striking attractiveness of the restored books. Moreover, it is a very time consuming technique.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
He became involved in his profession because after coming to the United States from the Soviet Union in 1981. Previously an economist, he used his ideas of bookbinding from when he was in Moscow. He went to Glendale Central Library to show them what he could do and they offered him a job. In 1988, he offered his skills to the Art Center College of Design.
