He became involved in his profession after gaining experience as a deputy in California and retiring from the field of air traffic control.
Extended Bio Profile:
Mr. Johnston retired from his position as an air traffic controller in 1994. For four years, he served in the military as a second-class air traffic control specialist. In December of 2010, he will turn 80 years old.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Preparing control car; Working with a partner; Patrolling a designated area of 90 square miles; Operating out of four substations, Assisting deputies in crime scene investigations and writing reports

Certified Crime Scene Investigator
Where Will You Be In 5 Years:
In five years, Mr. Johnston intends to continue volunteering for the Butte County Sheriff's Office.
