She became involved in her profession because of her interest in sales; she worked in retail for Hallmark for 17 years and was promoted to area manager for three states.

Ms. Kaufman started her real estate career as an assistant. She worked her way up the company, becoming an agent, a broker, office manager and finally assistant to the company owner and lead broker. When he retired and moved out of state, she opened her own brokerage.
