Prior to joining WestEd in 2007, Dr. Case served as an assessment specialist for CTB/McGraw-Hill LLC, Harcourt, Inc., and the Minnesota Department of Education. She also worked as a special education teacher, a school principal, an institutional researcher and a program evaluator. She was the president and chief executive officer of the World Institute on Disability and worked as a grant and development officer for the Albuquerque Public Schools.

Developing statewide tests; Working with states to build assessments for students with disabilities, including alternate assessments for students with severe cognitive disabilities and modified assessments for students with disabilities that are categorized as being in a "gray area"; Working in the areas of accommodations, assistive technology, Braille, large print, materials for the deaf and hard of hearing, and universal design
