Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Howe Waxman founded and served as chairwoman of Howe-Lewis International, a management consulting and executive search firm. She co-founded Diasonics, a medical imaging company that was greatly responsible for bringing diagnostic ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging technology and equipment to world markets. She was co-founder and director of American Biodyne, a for-profit managed mental health services company, which provides psychology-driven behavioral treatment programs. In 1992, while Ms. Howe Waxman served as director, the company was taken public, and was soon after acquired by Medco Containment Services. Ms. Howe Waxman served on the board of directors of SOS International, a worldwide medical service company, which was eventually sold in the late-1990s for approximately $800 million. Working in some of the most inhospitable places on earth, SOS offered international standards of medical care where it was otherwise not available, or where cultural or language barriers prevented its proper implementation. While with SOS, she was responsible for the formation of Western-style medical clinics in numerous emerging countries. Beginning in 1992, she helped established SOS clinics in China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Romania, and the former Soviet Union. Through her involvement with SOS International, she became a co-founder and member of the Board of International Medical Care, Ltd., a company that staffs and operates family practice outpatient clinics and provides emergency room health services throughout the world. Now she has founded the company Self Health Network, an online consumer-driven health care company that allows individuals to take control of their health care costs. Ms. Howe Waxman has also visited orphanages around the world, even establishing an orphanage in Russia. She created the Passin-Waxman Center for Children in Moscow, which cares for homeless orphans, ages 2 through 16, from the former Soviet Union area. Ms. Howe Waxman is also a successful producer and multiple Tony Award winner. As partners in Waxman Williams Entertainment, Anita Waxman and Elizabeth Williams have garnered 71 Tony nominations and 16 Tony Awards.
