Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Aguilera advanced into the position of curriculum director in January of 2005 after a brief term as special education administrator. She has been with Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections since 1999 and began as a special education teacher at Adobe Mountain. Prior to coming to Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections, she served as outreach coordinator and studio director for recording for the blind and dyslexic, reaching every district in Maricopa County with the nonprofit organization. She served for three years as curriculum director for the Life Development Institute, a local post-secondary education program for special-needs adult students. During her term of service, she developed their charter school, Academy for Lifelong Learning. She earned her master of education in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University and a certified administrator and teacher.
